Diabetes and Hypertension

Virtually every doctor treats high blood pressure with anti-hypertensive drugs and this is very unfortunate. Most mild or moderate hypertension can he safely and easily controlled without resorting to expensive and toxic synthetic drugs.

And the drugs doctors prescribe for high blood pressure can cause a long list of nasty side effects. Unfortunately many middle-aged men start taking anti-hypertensive drugs while in their fifties or sixties just when they are most vulnerable to sexual problems.

There are safer, less expensive and far less toxic natural medicines that can effectively handle most high blood pressure problems. I would encourage you to seek them out and experiment with them - under close physician monitoring of course.

High blood pressure medications are so widely used because they’re fast and simple, but they can cause many troublesome side effects including:

Increased uric acid level

Increased cholesterol level

Increased triglyceride level

Elevated blood sugar level

Potassium deficiency

Impotence

If you suffer from high blood pressure you might want to try the following. The Morton Salt Company makes an excellent salt substitute product. Over the years it’s been sold under a dozen different names so I can’t give you it’s exact label name but it’s sold in your local supermarket. It’s a round blue box with a flip-top lid.

Look at the contents label and you’ll find that it contains not the usual “sodium chloride (common everyday table salt)” but instead something called “Potassium chloride”. If you use the potassium version you’ll gently tip your electrolyte balance away from sodium toward potassium. And since most Americans consume far too much sodium and far too little potassium, this is a healthy change.

Many hypertensives have cured their disease by this simple, safe and inexpensive means. One short note though. Potassium chloride tastes salty but it also has a bit of a metallic taste that some don’t like. While others don’t mind the switch at all, it all depends on your individual sense of taste.

In cultures that don’t add salt to their foods, blood pressures remain constant as they age. Here in the US we use salt very heavily and as a result, the American norm is for our blood pressure to steadily rise throughout our lives.

If you need something to spice up your foods, try Mrs. Dash’s – herbal spice blend. It comes in a convenient little shaker, is very tasty and can be used on a wide range of foods. And the best thing is – it’s entirely salt free.
