Doctor's Lies About Diabetes

Doctor Lie #6

Diabetic drugs heal Diabetes.

None of the diabetic drugs currently on the market act in any way to heal anything.

Instead they merely suppress various symptoms with most concentrated on controlling blood sugar levels.

Not only do these drugs not heal, most have terrible side effects. Some of these drugs work by pushing the pancreas to produce more insulin. This then tends to push the level of sugar in the blood stream down.

Sounds good but if you read the research on insulin you'll find that this hormone which is health promoting provided your level doesn't climb too high, can turn against you when there's too much of it sloshing around in your blood. Recent research has discovered that excessive levels of insulin in the blood plays a major role in the development of a wide range of chronic degenerative diseases including some particularly deadly forms of cancer such as colon and breast cancer.

One of insulin's many roles in the body is to promote the creation of new cells. We all need to replace our old, worn out cells with new ones in order to keep our bodies operating normally.

But there are cells in our bodies we don't want to grow. I'm speaking about cancer cells. Insulin causes them to grow also which can increase our risk of being diagnosed with cancer. Not only that, once the tumor gets a foothold and starts to grow, a high insulin level can fuel it's spread to other organs. Doctors call that metastasis and it's a very dangerous development, something you very much want to avoid. Having a high insulin level can quite literally mean the difference between life and death.

Diabetic drugs are safe and effective.

This is the biggest lie of all because the sale of diabetic drugs is the most lucrative part of the diabetic industry. Read my page "Hooray for Diabetes" for more details.

Be especially wary of any "new miracle diabetes drug" the drug industry may announce. My advice is to wait a year or two before you consider using any new medication. Google the drug name (both the brand name and the generic name) and see what you come up with. Most of these drugs are so dangerous even the doctors that prescribe them now speak in terms of their "risk/reward ratio" meaning the drugs are going to cause you problems.

Controlling your blood sugar level is your best form of treatment.

Most doctors lead their patients to believe that if they can keep their blood sugar numbers down they can get away eating whatever they like. Doctors love to spread this nonsense and patients love to hear it. If your blood sugar is up, give yourself an injection of insulin and have another piece of apple pie. Only one tiny problem - it isn't true.

Two studies published in the British Medical Journal showed that those patients who steadfastly monitored their blood sugar levels became more anxious and depressed as a result. Comprehensive evaluations found that these self-monitored patients reported a lower quality of life.

The 2008 ACCORD study found that  10,000 type II diabetics suffered MORE heart attacks and strokes when their blood sugar levels were being closely monitored and reduced with medications than those who had a much more relaxed regimen. So many people were dying that the researchers shut down the study to avoid any further deaths.

Insulin is your friend - use it whenever and as often as you like.

As I've already said - this is nonsense. While insulin promotes good health in a healthy body, everyone should avoid having too much insulin in their system. See above concerning insulin and cancer.

In fact, hyperinsulinemia (too much insulin in the blood) has been implicated in a long list of chronic degenerative health problems. It plays a role in over two dozen different diseases.

In my opinion everyone should have their blood insulin level checked at least once a year and should take immediate action should it climb too high. If your doctor won't run the insulin test, ask for your triglyceride level which will give you a strong indication of where your blood insulin level is. If your triglycerides are high - there's probably too much insulin in your system. This is especially true if you're a type II diabetic.

Diabetes drugs protect you against diabetic complications.

Again not true. No drug is going to heal anything. Diabetes is a progressive disorder and if you go on suppressing symptoms with dangerous prescription medications and avoid attacking it's root cause - complications will eventually overtake you and take your life.

I'm sure the drug companies hire legions of psychologists who interview panels of people and tell the drug company advertisers exactly which of our fears are the deepest and therefore the most profitable to exploit. Whether or not the drug has any effect seems not to be any concern to the greedy crooks who run the drug industry. ■
